WELCOME, JUNIORS!

GEARING UP

Junior year is the big one! It’s time to take the SAT or ACT in the spring (after retaking the PSAT in the fall), finish up the five Regents you need for graduation and put your college search into full gear. Be sure to:

Maintain good grades and attendance.

This is important every year, but none more so than junior year.

Make a college list.

Prepare to apply to at least six schools, including a safety, a reach and an academic match. Junior year is a great time to visit college campuses.

Familiarize yourself with FAFSA.

Together with a parent or guardian, go to a workshop at your school or in your community where you’ll learn about the documents you need to apply for financial aid, and practice with some sample forms and a FAFSA worksheet.
